Barcis

Alpine Village of Frisanco, Italy
Barcis is an idyllic village at the foot of the Italian Alps and is the perfect location for a self-catering holiday. Located in the region of Friuli in Italy’s north-eastern corner, there are numerous charming alpine villages within a short drive from Barcis including Pordenone, Frisanco, Piancavallo and Claut to name but a few.
Barcis has a long history and is built on the banks of the ancient Cellis river. Barcis was distroyed by a landslide in 1314 and rebuilt. Barcis was destroyed by fire in 1606 and rebuilt. In 1944 the retreating Nazis set fire to the village. It has been quiet since then! Today the traveller can enjoy a lovely stroll through the Prescudin forest directly opposite Bella Visa and then retire for a coffee or a glass of wine while viewing the Palzzo Centi (17th century Palace).
